Until 1978 Terri had a chapter running in The Children of God. McGowan lived a large portion of her childhood at the commune, and she often visited various countries across Europe along with her family. McGowan became a child-model because of her father's work as an artist. She also appeared in Vogue Bambini, among other Italian publications.
