Maggie Grace is an American actress who was born Margaret Grace Denig in 1983. Her most famous roles include Shannon Rutherford, a character in ABC's Lost series as well as Kim Mills from the Taken trilogy. Born in Worthington Ohio she dropped out of high school and moved into Los Angeles with her mother following her divorce from her parents. Though she struggled financially in 2001, her debut came acting as Rachel's Room's principal character. The role she played in the role of Martha Moxley, a 15-year-old victim of murder in the TV movie Murder In Greenwich in 2002 earned her nominations for a Young Artist Award. In 2004, Grace was cast as Shannon Rutherford in the television show Lost where she was a main character for the initial two seasons. She was also awarded an Screen Actors Guild Award shared with the ensemble cast. Grace has worked with Tom Welling on The Fog in 2005, wanted to move to film. Grace has been as Kim Mills in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club and in 2007 and Taken alongside Liam Neeson in 2008 as Kim Mills. The role was reprised for Taken 2 (2012) and Taken 3 (2014).She played the lead role Alice in Malice in Wonderland a modern version of Lewis Carroll's classic novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace reprised Shannon's role as Shannon in Lost for two more episodes. This included the series final. In 2013, she appeared in Season 6 of Californication. She plays Faith as a girl who acts as a muse to the stars, and draws the eye of Hank Moody (David Duchovny). Being part of the Gyllenhaal Family, she's the younger sister to actor Jake Gyllenhaal. The career of her mother began when she was an early teenager, as she was cast in minor parts in a few films directed from her father. In addition, she was a part of her brother in the 2001 popular film Donnie Darko. Her next roles were in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind in 2002, as well as Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal received critical acclaim for her performance in the romantic erotic comedy drama Secretary (2002) and the drama Sherrybaby (2006) both of which resulted in a Golden Globe Award nomination. She gained wider recognition when she portrayed Rachel Dawes, a superhero in The Dark Knight (2008), thanks to several successful commercial films she starred in in the year 2006. She was recognized as the best supporting Actress at the Oscar Awards for her performance of a single mom in Crazy Heart. Her other roles include the role of a Secret Service agent in the action-thriller White House Down (2013) a musician in Frank (2014) as well as the title role in the film The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). Gyllenhaal was first introduced as a director and writer in 2021, with her drama about psychological issues The Lost Daughter. For this movie, she received an award for the Best Screenplay Award at the Venice International Film Festival and was nominated for an Academy Award.
